Thanks for your feedback, it helps us improve the site. In reply to Debleena S's post on May 15, I don't think I made it quite clear. The game requires a restart once installed, so I actually haven't played it or tried to yet. It is then after the required restart has been done that it goes into that repair procedure mode.
In reply to joestokes's post on May 15, Make older programs run in this version of Windows Refer: Program Compatibility Assistant: frequently asked questions Hope the information helps. That did not work, it does exactly the same thing. By doing some more investigating of my own, I found that it is a problem with drivers that are installed by the Starforce Protection, which is used to ensure that the game is genuine.
These drivers I found are incompatible with windows 7 if below version 5. I found on the Starforce website a driver updater however it seems that it does not fully update all the drivers.
I uploaded an image here showing which drivers need to be digitally signed and updated. Also the version of the drivers in the bottom right. So after running the driver updater provided by the driver producer, the laptop will restart. Once it has restarted my laptop will pop up with a notice saying that, that driver is disabled due to incompatibility issues. Also I find that the driver version shown in the bottom right of the image does not change. Then when I try to run the launcher, the StarForce Protection program thinks that the game still has only just been installed and there has been no restart.
That is as far as I got, and I do not get the repair procedure on startup if I update the drivers using the program. Any further ideas? El Alce. In reply to joestokes's post on May 18, I'm currently working on this myself but I found that they have a drivers removal tool as well.
There is no need for any additional actions. Windows 7 support is implemented for both 32 and bit versions. As Worms is using version 3. X, I fall under category 1. I contacted the publisher who basically told me "We don't support Windows Seven", so I'm now turning to the developer's forum.
It pains me to see that a side-effect of copy protection software is to restrict the OS on which you may play a game you bought. Some Win9X games can also be made to run, thanks to some tweaks and fiddles. However, Worms Mayhem is not that old game , and due to the copy-protection of the Codemasters version of the game, I am restricted from playing it If you really bought the game, there is really nothing wrong with that.
Indeed, it worked. It feels strange to be forced to use a crack for a game you bought Seems I have a similar problem, but with Vista.
