Sorry I am a little confused, are you saying you load up old sessions and strip them of tracks etc to use them as templates almost for new projects? Question: If you import a session from a friend and save it to your external hard drive. As you will no doubt have read in our article, audio recorded within a session is stored within a subfolder of that particular folder.
Reloading the old original file will only give you what you had at the beginning before you tracked anything. The only hope you may have is if you are able to access the session which crashed and a backup was automatically saved at some point before your hard drive played up, this is of course providing that the hard drive is not corrupt and still accessible.
Your email address will not be published. Introduction You may have noticed that when you create a new session, a folder is created which contains a number of files and additional folders, most people have no interest in what is going on here but it can never hurt to have an understanding of what is happening behind the scenes.
WaveCache File The WaveCache file is another one of those files that gets a lot less credit then it deserves. Region Groups Folder To understand the contents of this folder it is probably best to read on up how region groups first of all, you can read our guide of region groups HERE.
Video Files Folder There is a little more thought required when working with video files within your session in terms of how it is stored, video files can be rather large which means you may not have enough storage space to duplicate it into your session, most commonly Pro Tools will reference the session to wherever the video file is stored on your computer, however when it comes to fully backing up projects you will need to have the video file included.
Test Yourself If you would like to test your new knowledge of the Pro Tools session structure then why not head over to our quiz HERE and see how much new information you have taken on board! We can set our filter type and if you click on it you have choices of low-pass and high-pass filters. The lower I go the darker it sounds and you can affect your resonance frequency here and your filter on globe. And you have a respective ADSR over here so for you track time of filter you can make it fast or slow… and your release time. Down here for your amplifier you can change your velocity sensitivity and change the attack and release.
With the release it is going to play the full sample when it is set all the way to the top. We can make it really short and staccato sound. And I like pretty much the way it is here. And then we go over to the filter and change that one a little bit. So lets go ahead and un-solo that and volumize and see how they sit together. Whether I want more of the acoustic guitar and less of the pad.
Down at the bottom I am going to solo this. You have these knobs down here at the bottom: You can add bass, treble, reverb, room size, and you can add more or less fret noises over here. And also change your overall release of the entire patch here — along with your master volume.
So reverb, chorus, cuttoff, velocity ,attack and release affect the overall out put of the entire patch together along with the master volume. What I can do is save this as a preset. Another way that you can work with structure free is by loading in actual wave or samples. Because it is a sample player, we can go ahead and key-map samples to certain keys on the structure free keyboard. First I am going to remove all these patches that we currently have and then I am going to come over to the browser and in the browser I am going to select from some drum single hit samples that I have.

Of course, I use the full Structure all the time. While there are some limitations with Structure full version , such as no arp generator, it is, in my view, on of the easiest to use, and has so many features for tweaking and editing samples. I think it deserves a lot more attention than it seems to get. Thread Tools.
