How to remove Front License Frame? Thread starter mcarther Start date Jan 1, Location Yuma, AZ. There were four plastic rivets holding it on. Oriented the bit as if I was inserting it into a drill cutting edge in my hand. Last edited: Jan 1, Derf Ready to race! This will settle and even out with drying time. They should be dry because you let them for 24 hours right? If need be, use a pen or screwdriver to push them up from the bottom.
Take them to the car, and press them into the holes that you drilled into the bumper. Otherwise, just pressing the plugs in should lock them into place, and leave barely noticeable 'bumps' on the bumper where the holes used to be. They were lower profile and didn't have rounded edges. They were more flush. The nylon plugs are usually found in the 'special hardware' section, which is usually a bunch of drawers with various types of hardware in them.
ASK if you can't find them. It will tell you in the leftmost column, what the manufacturer paint code is. I want to do that with my trans am, there were holes in the bumper from an un-needed bracket, i might sand down the plugs to make them even more low profile, if they are not already. I don't want the ugly pock-marks on the brand new car, and your tips here are going to be saving me from having to put some stupid plate on the front just to keep it looking flush and clean!
And thanks again!! Nice work, definitely have to do this to mine. Fortunately there were only 2 drilled holes into my bumper instead of 4. Can't do that here in the UK, you have to have the reg. I hate how they do that. It also seems like they get the dumbest employee to do it too, mine aren't even lined up right. My UK plate looks real purty there They are not cheap, but they should match your bumper's color exactly.
Have Fun! It's just two self-tapping screws, I believe. Pretty straight forward. Mine were plastic rivets. You just push the center pins out through the back they fall behind the bumper and rattle around and pull the rest of the rivet out toward the front.
I managed to easily remove the two plastic rivets. But how do I remove the two connectors at the bottom of this assembly? PassatSE4me Veteran Member. You might get lucky with just wiggling it around. If not, there are tabs inside the honeycomb that need to be depressed to free it up. Not that it matters at this point but for the plugs I just used the same plastic rivets that came out. If the center lower grill comes with it, then it can be pushed back easily enough.
Nothing but pliable plastic tabs down there. JoshMcMadMac Well-known member. JoshMcMadMac said:. The easiest way is to remove the grill, then you can reach down behind the bumper and depress the tabs that are holding the bracket in.
